I remember sitting in my little rocking chair as a child, looking at all the illustrations in a Big Golden Book illustrated by Garth Williams, called Elves and Fairies...Hours would go by as I studied each picture. I also loved a series of of beautifully bound books published in 1920 called My Bookhouse, edited by Olive Beaupre Miller. We had at least eight volumes. Beautifully drawn pen and ink illustrations with limited color offered endless hours in my own fantasy world. I knew from childhood I wanted to created art that is magical and childrens books offer that opportunity.
